Panu is the personification of fire, or a fire haltija. The name is also used to mean fire and flames. Panu appears in spells related to fire:

"Panu poika Aurinkoinen, Aurinkoisen pojan poika, Auringottaren tekemä, tee tuli tehottomaksi, valkia vaarattomaksi"
"Panu Sunny son, son of the son of the Sun, created by Lady Sun, make fire inefficient, blaze unharmful"
